Face

The artist is constantly fascinated by the face. To him, the face is one of the most complex landscapes to find. Every human being we come across has unique physical particularities; transposing it on canvas really celebrates the difference that unites us. The expressionist bias of the artist naturally guides him towards less academic representations. This allows him not to give an identity to his face works, leaving the spectator free to interpret what he sees.

The imaginary friend

The title induces the need to break loneliness by creating a friend. Imagining it allows one to be accompanied by whomever he desires, whenever he desires. But the dark side reveals the very escape of sociability. The interpretation and understanding of this work fully depend on the viewer’s experiences and life scars.

She screams for her life

The woman depicted here is screaming for her life. She shouts it like a meaningful song; loud and powerful. Her crying out loud really points out that despite all tribulations, there is always a strong conviction only asking to pop out. One could also believe in a blind singer; to each his own...Her empty eyes represent the inner vision of herself. The artist thinks that as soon as a work is looked at by a tierce, the very message he’s been wanting to express no longer belongs to him.

The influence of education

The influence of transmission of skills, knowledge and good manners are not always obvious at first glance, but they are there evidently. The dog is a pack animal that can live alone, with a master or a human friend. Education is done according to its settlement. It adapts.

Conflict

Conflict can be a factor of social bond, but can also destroy this bond through jealousy, power or any act enslaving one another. On the bottom, the rings are dark red. They’re drawn based on flowing blood, representing the actual pain felt by violence. The beast on the left is treason; he attacks from behind. He depicts a friend who has turned, or any individual allying with the attacker, expecting benefits from it. The character on the right screams injustice, but only shouts.

Interwoven Inner

The black line here isn’t used to separate, but to connect the elements to find a unity. That work’s about showing the cracks, magnifying them somehow. This brings us back to a notion of resilience.

1984

The title refers to George Orwell's book “1984”, and its omniscient character "Big Brother". This painting represents a face with several eyes. He is under constant observation, and even looks at the viewer of this painting... You! It is an allegory of our society and its multiple ways of keeping tabs on us. Bank cards, phones, cars, TVs, multiple cameras in towns, parking lots, streets, and all form of social networks. We are observed in our daily life; this painting has no conspiratorial vocation, but rather really aims to showcase the intensity of the observation. Being aware of all this also means being in balance with it.
